Maternal-Child Ward

The following day we were introduced to the maternal-child ward.

Women delivering have a minimum amount of privacy during their stay. Beds are side by side. If the delivery is uncomplicated they stay only 6 hours post-partum…yes that is six hours. During a patients labor course one of the patients became sick and vomited in the bathroom, she was then required to mop up after herself. The L&D nurses here are great, but life is hard, and the expectation for patients in the hospital is that care is performed professionally, however without the manufactured sympathy that we may express in the states.
